Dick Dale to inspiring artists - Stay away from record label.
Surf rock guitar hero Dick Dale, the person behind Pulp Fiction's iconic theme song, Misirlou have an advice for budding artists out there - say no to record label. Watch the video here. Record label sucks every cents from you. His solution - go indie! That's what some punk & indie bands have been doing for a long time. Be brave, start your own record label. Have a hand in everything, learn the business rather then letting other people control your life. it's easier now, we have Youtube and MySpace for a no cost networking and marketing tools.
Love to see Dick Dale, Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye sharing a stage. And covering a Dead Kennedy's song. Lovely. (via BoingBoing )
