Well, I hope Malaysia goverment won't have the same mindset as them.
Its definitely not the cut and paste album I was dreading and there's nothing new here. It's not an Instant classic but that’s probably a good thing. The personal touch from Yorke's back pocket 'o' riffs 'n' samples ensures that this Radiohead sounding album Is just that little bit more special. But it will have to sleep on the couch for now until we get bunk beds for the others.

Make Some Noise is a global venture by Amnesty International that mixes music, celebration and action to protect individuals wherever freedom, justice and equality are denied. Thanks to an extraordinary gift from Yoko Ono – the recording rights to “Imagine” and John Lennon’s entire solo songbook – we are harnessing the power of music to inspire a new generation to stand up for human rights.

And an orator said, "Speak to us of Freedom."
And he answered:
At the city gate and by your fireside I have seen you prostrate yourself and worship your own freedom,
Even as slaves humble themselves before a tyrant and praise him though he slays them.
Ay, in the grove of the temple and in the shadow of the citadel I have seen the freest among you wear their freedom as a yoke and a handcuff.
And my heart bled within me; for you can only be free when even the desire of seeking freedom becomes a harness to you, and when you cease to speak of freedom as a goal and a fulfillment.
You shall be free indeed when your days are not without a care nor your nights without a want and a grief,
But rather when these things girdle your life and yet you rise above them naked and unbound.
And how shall you rise beyond your days and nights unless you break the chains which you at the dawn of your understanding have fastened around your noon hour?
In truth that which you call freedom is the strongest of these chains, though its links glitter in the sun and dazzle the eyes.
And what is it but fragments of your own self you would discard that you may become free?
If it is an unjust law you would abolish, that law was written with your own hand upon your own forehead.
You cannot erase it by burning your law books nor by washing the foreheads of your judges, though you pour the sea upon them.
And if it is a despot you would dethrone, see first that his throne erected within you is destroyed.
For how can a tyrant rule the free and the proud, but for a tyranny in their own freedom and a shame in their won pride?
And if it is a care you would cast off, that care has been chosen by you rather than imposed upon you.
And if it is a fear you would dispel, the seat of that fear is in your heart and not in the hand of the feared.
Verily all things move within your being in constant half embrace, the desired and the dreaded, the repugnant and the cherished, the pursued and that which you would escape.
These things move within you as lights and shadows in pairs that cling.
And when the shadow fades and is no more, the light that lingers becomes a shadow to another light.
And thus your freedom when it loses its fetters becomes itself the fetter of a greater freedom.
Freedom XIV by Khalil Gibran (1883 - 1931) , a great poet from Lebanon.
Directed by Paul Rachman, this documentary was inspired by a book American Hardcore : A Tribal History, written by Steven Blush . Looking at the list of bands and people that were included in this documentary really made me exited. Gang Green, Ian Mackay (Minor Threat, Fugazi), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty), Bad Brains, Youth Brigade, Adolescents, Circle Jerks, Article of Faith. The list goes on and on.
There are some problems, though. The poster is too clean and didn't even have a hint at the 80's hardcore style ; edgy, and chaotic. Not 'cool' and stylish. Well, blame it all on Photoshop. At least they got the color right. Another surprise is that the documentary was released under Sony Pictures Classics. That soo not punk rock. They can released it on Yourtube and licensed it under creative commons if DIY (he did mention it in his press kit), anti capitalism & non-profit are their philosophy. Hmm maybe not. And, did hardcore cease to exist after 1986? Well, it is according to synopsis in their press kit.
The film was supposed to be made in DIY fashion with lots of rare footage and interviews with hardcore pioneers. The documentary ends at 1986, so don't expect bands like Earth Crisis or Gorilla Biscuits to be featured here. They do miss some big bands though, like Youth Of Today . Nonthe less, a documentary that I really looking forward to. You can search the internet for a DVD copy. Schedule to open in New York and Los Angeles on September 22nd 2006.

Update : Borang Bancian Weblog Malaysia

Projek Bancian Weblog Malaysia.

"Pink Floyd legend Syd Barrett has died at his Cambridgeshire home.
The singer, 60, who suffered from an LSD-induced breakdown while at the peak of his career in the Sixties, died last Friday (July 7). It has been reported that he died from complications related to diabetes, however, other reports suggest the cause of death was cancer. "
Rock and roll have never change much since that day. People still use drugs and while some have managed to reclaimed their former, sober life back, some were not as lucky. A genius was born and died with a handful of fabulous songs and a priceless music legacy. In 1975 Pink Floyds recorded a tribute album for Syd Barrett 'Wish You Were Here.'
Wish You Were Here
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange
a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year,
running over the same old ground. What have we found?
The same old fears,
wish you were here.
The ONE project got a boost when Yahoo! joined in to further support their cause. ONE is a project to eliminate poverty across the globe. It is an effort by Americans to rally Americans 'ONE by ONE' to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty. Although we are NOT Americans, all good causes need to be supported. Now, Flickr have shown their support by starting a Flickr group, Faces Of One. You can also post your picture to show your support.

There are alot of website that can track down web statistic for free. Some of them are very basic, only offer limited services (e.g. daily traffic, where they come from, keywords) while other are more detail and offer options that can actually help you to build traffic, even increase your adsense revenue. Here are some of the free website (except Google Analytics, well, sort of)
6. Google Analyctics
In their own words,
Google Analytics tells you everything you want to know about how your visitors found you and how they interact with your site. You'll be able to focus your arketing resources on campaigns and initiatives that deliver ROI, and improve your site to convert more visitors. The data is smartly divided into several categories that might seem quite confusing and overwhelming to basic computer user or someone with moderate IT understanding (that include me). But upon close observation, you might slowly learn what is all itall about. Everything is well laid out and put in a graph form.
The setup is quite easy but you do have to add a script into your website before the it can start monitoring your website. Apart from monitoring blg statistic, user should also check out Google Conversion University. There you can find alot of useful tips and pointer to generate more income through your blog.
The advantages & disadvantages
Google Analyctics is full with features. It is Integrated with AdWords so it will cost and keyword tracking data that is useful to further improve your earning. The downside is although it is free, you have to request for an invitation code which will take some time before Goggle send it to you. The layout and features might be too much for majority, everyday blogger. But overall, it is well worth it.
7. Performancing Metrics
This website aims to help blogger to succeed. There are alot of article but unlike Google's Conversion University, the terms and language used are simple and easier to understand. You can also join in theirforum and be a member of the largest profesional blogger comunity on the web.
Okay, about their blog statistic tracking system. Compared to Google, it is easier to understand. A lot more. Everything are conviniently categorized, from basic information like number of visitors, where they come from to more detail information like Adsense Clicks and Referrers information. Everything are put in a graph for easier comparison.
The advantages & disadvantages
Performacing Matrics is very easy to understand and can track mutiple blogs with one user account. User can also use the RSS feed and get your stats in your news reader. Between Google Analyctics and Performancing Matrics, I give my vote to Performancing because of it user friendly interface and easy to use. It is not to say Google Analyctics is not good, it is the best but Performancing Matrics is simpler to understand and will appeal to all range of users.
8. Basic, no-nonsense, hassle free.
Webstats4u, Sitemeter, Statcounter, Web-stat, Shinystat & Bravenet.
Now, if you don't care about the nitty-gritty details about marketing or such and only interested in number of visitor coming to your site, please check out one of the above. I personally live Webstat4u as it is simple to understand and the information is quite detail. You do need to add a script into your website, same as Google Analyctics and Performancing Matrics. Another popular choice is Sitemeter.
You can check out Bravenet as well because they offer various type of web tool and goodies beside the usual web traffic counter.
